Project Overview

The Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) project is an initiative by the Formal Education Network for Private Schools (FENPS) aimed at improving the health and well-being of students in private schools by ensuring access to clean water, adequate sanitation facilities, and proper hygiene practices. This project aligns with FENPS’s commitment to enhancing the educational environment and promoting sustainable development goals within the private education sector.

Objectives

  1. Improve Access to Clean Water:
    • Install or upgrade water supply systems in participating private schools.
    • Ensure the availability of clean and safe drinking water for all students and staff.
  2. Enhance Sanitation Facilities:
    • Construct or renovate toilets and sanitation blocks to meet hygiene standards.
    • Implement gender-segregated facilities to ensure privacy and safety for all students.
  3. Promote Hygiene Practices:
    • Conduct regular hygiene education sessions for students, teachers, and staff.
    • Distribute hygiene kits, including soap, hand sanitizers, and menstrual hygiene products.
  4. Capacity Building and Training:
    • Train school staff and management on maintaining WASH facilities.
    • Develop and distribute educational materials on the importance of water, sanitation, and hygiene.
  5. Community Engagement and Awareness:
    • Engage parents and community members in WASH activities and awareness campaigns.
    • Foster a culture of hygiene and sanitation within the broader community.

Project Components

  1. Water Supply:
    • Installation of boreholes, water tanks, and filtration systems.
